Code of Conduct

CIBB 2026 - 21st International Conference on Computational Intelligence Methods for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics

Preamble

CIBB 2026 brings together researchers, students, and professionals for the open exchange of scientific ideas, the freedom of thought and expression, and respectful debate. These values are central to the mission of the conference and require a community that recognizes the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

CIBB 2026 is hosted by Sapienza University of Rome, an institution that recognizes equal dignity and respect for all members of its community and rejects any form of prejudice and discrimination (Sapienza Code of Ethics and Conduct, Section II, Art. 3).

  • satellite events, tutorials, and social events (welcome reception, social dinner)
  • conference venues at Sapienza University of Rome and at any other location hosting official conference activities
  • official communication channels, including email and social media, when used in connection with the conference

Sponsors are equally subject to this Code of Conduct and should not use images, materials, or activities that are of a sexual, racial, or otherwise offensive nature.

Expected behavior

All Participants are expected to:

  • treat every individual with respect, courtesy, and professionalism
  • engage in constructive and good-faith scientific discussion
  • be considerate of differing viewpoints, experiences, and backgrounds

Unwelcome conduct, including unwelcome sexual attention, inappropriate physical contact, derogatory remarks, and public or private communications intended to humiliate, exclude, or demean.

Scientific misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism in paper submissions, presentations, posters, or any other material presented at the conference.

Misuse of materials, including the use of images, activities, or other materials that are of a sexual, racial, or otherwise offensive nature and that may create an inappropriate or hostile environment.

Action

If a Participant engages in behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:

  • a verbal or written warning
  • expulsion from the conference or from specific sessions or events, with no refund
  • exclusion from participation in future editions of CIBB
  • reporting the incident to the offender's institution or funding agency
  • reporting the incident to local authorities, if warranted

A response of "it was just a joke" will not be accepted as justification for unacceptable behavior.

There will be no retaliation against any Participant who reports a concern or an incident in good faith, or who assists in the investigation of a complaint.
